Western Sydney International Airport is less than two weeks away from welcoming its first passengers, with duty-free shopping, tech gadgets and travel essentials among the retail offerings confirmed for opening day.
The airport, which begins passenger operations on 25 October, has secured a lineup of specialty retailers through travel retail operator Lagardère AWPL, with 11 stores planned across its domestic and international precincts.
The offering includes two duty-free shopping areas, three RELAY stores and specialty retailers Eye Love and Tech2Go.
RELAY will stock travel essentials, fresh food, drinks, coffee and wellness products, while Eye Love will offer eyewear and Tech2Go will sell technology products.
The duty-free stores will feature premium brands and exclusive products, with the retail offering expected to expand as flight services increase.
Western Sydney International CEO Simon Hickey said the retail lineup was another milestone ahead of the airport’s opening.
“From day one, customers will be able to enjoy a mix of quality retail like premium Duty-Free shopping and eyewear options, various convenient RELAY essentials, including fresh food and drinks, and the latest Tech2Go gadgets,” he said.
Lagardère AWPL CEO Costa Kouros said the offering had been tailored to passengers’ needs, combining international brands with products and experiences showcasing Western Sydney.
The operator will manage about 3,100 square metres of retail space, comprising around 1,900 square metres of duty-free retail and 1,200 square metres dedicated to travel essentials and specialty retail.
More stores and brands are expected to join the precinct over the coming months and years as passenger demand grows.
Western Sydney International began cargo operations on 27 July, with its first passenger flights scheduled for Sunday, 25 October.
