The name Kim has a special place in the hearts of Australians. There’s the Kimberley region, of course, as well as Australian national treasure Kim Craig. Now, Intrepid Travel and Tourism Western Australia are putting the name to good use.

Travel advisors are being encouraged to nominate clients named Kim for the chance to win a 10-day adventure through Western Australia’s Kimberley region as part of a new destination campaign.

Dubbed The Kimberley Calls, the campaign launched on 11 October, inviting Australians named Kimberley, Kimberly or a variation of the name to enter the competition.

The prize includes an Intrepid trip exploring the region from Broome / Rubibi to Kununurra / Goonoonoorrang, taking in red rock gorges, freshwater pools, remote wilderness and outback skies.

Entries close on 11 November 2026, with participants asked to explain in 25 words or less why the Kimberley is calling them, or a Kim, Kimmy or Kimmee they know. Friends, family, colleagues and travel advisors are encouraged to nominate the Kims in their lives.

The campaign’s hero video features an Intrepid leader making a distinctive cooing call, answered by Kimberleys across Australia before revealing the destination behind the call.

Yvette Thompson, general manager ANZ at Intrepid Travel, said the campaign aims to put one of Australia’s most spectacular adventure destinations on more travellers’ radars.

“We thought, why not turn the name Kimberley into a very good reason to visit the Kimberley? The Kimberley is a pretty special part of Australia, so we’re having a bit of fun with the campaign while giving four very lucky Kimberleys the chance to experience it for themselves,” she said.

The campaign showcases the region’s landscapes, wildlife, Aboriginal culture and remote wilderness, including the ancient formations of Purnululu National Park and the Bungle Bungle Range.

Intrepid operates four itineraries in the Kimberley, with year-to-date bookings for its 14-day Kimberley Trail up almost 50 per cent year on year.

Following the competition launch, the campaign’s second phase will feature longer-form destination content highlighting the different ways travellers can experience the region, from multi-day wilderness trips to journeys combining iconic landscapes, local culture and wildlife.

The campaign tagline, “The Kimberley Calls. An adventure with your name on it”, will run across both phases.

The Kimberley Calls brings together Intrepid Travel’s small-group adventure travel expertise and Tourism Western Australia’s destination marketing reach to encourage more Australians to discover the region.

Travel advisors and clients can enter via Intrepid’s competition page, or explore the operator’s Kimberley itineraries.
