Contiki has introduced eight new travel categories, 76 new and reimagined trips and expanded destinations as part of the youth travel brand’s biggest transformation in more than 60 years.

Announced in Sydney yesterday, the new GO WANDER platform is designed to give young travellers more choice in how they explore the world, with trips organised around different interests, budgets and travel styles.

Developed alongside Publicis Australia and Havas Media over 18 months, the transformation spans Contiki’s product offering, pricing, digital experience and brand positioning.

The eight new Travel Worlds are designed to help travellers find trips that suit their interests, whether they are looking for cultural immersion, outdoor adventures, iconic itineraries or tropical escapes.

The categories include Local, focused on immersive small-group experiences; Outdoors, for active adventures; Lite, for budget-conscious travellers; Originals, featuring classic Contiki journeys; Highlights, covering bucket-list experiences; Islands, for tropical escapes; Festivals, centred on major events; and Luxe, offering more elevated travel experiences.

The expanded portfolio includes 76 new and reimagined trips, additional itineraries across Asia, Africa and the Americas, and new destinations including Fiji and the Maldives.

Toni Ambler said the new platform was designed to give travellers greater choice.

The changes follow research commissioned by Contiki, which found that nearly six in 10 young Australians had travelled overseas in the past two years and were planning their next trip.

The company said younger travellers increasingly viewed international travel as an ongoing part of their lives, motivated by freedom, personal growth, new perspectives and discovery rather than simply as a once-in-a-lifetime rite of passage.

Toni Ambler, managing director of The Travel Corporation Oceania and chief customer officer at Contiki, said the new platform was designed to give travellers greater flexibility and choice.

“GO WANDER is a reinvention of Contiki, inspired by the pioneering spirit that’s been part of our story from the start and reimagined for a new generation of young travellers,” Ambler said.

“With 76 new or reimagined trips, eight new travel worlds built around personal interests, and more ways to travel, we’re giving young people the freedom and choice to explore the world on their own terms.”

The transformation also includes a redesigned digital experience intended to help travellers discover trips based on their interests and turn travel inspiration into bookings.

Alongside the product changes, Contiki has launched On Contiki, an original vertical micro-drama series directed by Australian filmmaker Gracie Otto. Set in Costa Rica, the series follows four young travellers as they navigate adventure, friendship and self-discovery.

The entertainment-led campaign will be supported across social, earned and experiential channels, alongside a creator program and an integrated media strategy.

GO WANDER is live from today, with travellers able to explore Contiki’s updated trip portfolio through the brand’s website.
