Velocity Frequent Flyer has become the first airline loyalty program to partner with ShopBack in Australia, giving shoppers a new way to turn everyday spending into flights.
The partnership lets ShopBack members convert cashback into Velocity Points at a rate of $1 for 50 points, with no fees.
Members can turn cashback earned on groceries, fashion and food delivery into points for flights with Virgin Australia and its international partners, including Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines and United Airlines.
Velocity Frequent Flyer chief commercial officer Shanika Ekanayake said the deal would make it easier for members to earn points.
“We’re always looking for new ways to make it easier for our members to earn Points through the spending they’re already doing, and ShopBack is a really exciting addition to Velocity,” she said.
Members can link their accounts through the ShopBack app or website. Redemptions start at $5, with a daily limit of $600.
To celebrate the launch, ShopBack will offer 100 bonus points to members who link their accounts between 20 and 22 November. A separate promotion will give members the chance to win 100,000 Velocity Points.
Australia is ShopBack’s second market to introduce frequent flyer conversions, following Hong Kong.
