Tickets for a new direct service between Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) and Nadi, Fiji, go on sale today, with Fiji Airways becoming the latest international carrier to join the airport’s 24-hour global gateway.

As speculated in Travel Weekly earlier this month, from March next year, Fiji Airways will operate three weekly flights between Western Sydney and Fiji, giving Sydneysiders a new direct connection to the popular holiday destination.

WSI CEO Simon Hickey said the partnership would strengthen Sydney’s ties with a “beloved Pacific neighbour” and give Western Sydney’s multicultural communities greater choice and flexibility in how they fly.

“More than 70 per cent of our global city’s growing Fijian population call Western Sydney home, and we’re delighted to be delivering a new, seamless service for them to connect with family and friends,” he said.

“Last year alone, more than 400,000 passengers travelled between New South Wales and Fiji, demonstrating the immense popularity of the warm, welcoming leisure destination and the more than 300 islands visitors can explore.”

Hickey added that the overnight timing – departing WSI at 11.55pm and arriving in Nadi just before 5am – would suit both business travellers seeking productivity gains and holidaymakers looking to maximise long weekends and connect swiftly to boat and ferry services.

Route details

• Three weekly services between WSI and Nadi, operating every Monday, Friday and Sunday
• First flight departs Friday, 19 March 2027
• Services will operate on Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with up to 170 seats, comprising 162 economy and eight business class seats

Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Catherine King welcomed the announcement, noting Fiji’s status as a top 10 international destination for Australians.

“It’s exciting that there will be another travel option for Aussies, from Western Sydney’s new global gateway to the world,” she said. “Bula Fiji Airways – it’s so good to have you boarding soon at Western Sydney International.”

Fiji Airways managing director and CEO Paul Scurrah said the route was a natural next step for the airline and an opportunity to serve one of the country’s fastest-growing regions.

“Western Sydney is also home to a significant Fijian and Pacific Islander community, so for us this is about more than tourism – it’s about making it easier for our own people to stay connected to family and home,” he said. “We look forward to welcoming even more Australians onboard the world’s happiest airline.”

To mark the new route, Fiji Airways is offering introductory return fares from Western Sydney to Fiji from $639, available for booking until 23 September at FijiAirways.com or through participating travel agents. Sale fares apply to select travel dates and are available until sold out; terms and conditions apply.

WSI began cargo operations on 27 July 2026, with passenger services set to launch on Sunday, 25 October. The airport is Australia’s first major international greenfield development in more than 50 years.
