kabarsula Alunê, W Bali – Seminyak’s newest addition, goes above and beyond beach club vibe bandar SLOT INDONESIA
There are beach clubs, and then there are beach clubs that have been designed around the moment you realise the sun is about to disappear, writes Mia Rogers.
Alunê, the newest addition to W Bali – Seminyak, falls into the latter.
Taking over the former Woobar footprint, the newly opened beachfront destination is designed around one of Bali’s most reliable attractions: the sunset.
Rather than simply pointing a few sun loungers towards the ocean, Alunê has built the entire experience around the transition between afternoon and evening.

The result is a space that feels deliberately fluid. During the day, it is somewhere to settle in, eat, swim and take in the ocean views. As the afternoon slips away, the pace shifts, cocktails arrive and the soundtrack gets louder, eventually turning the beachfront into something closer to a sunset party.
Even its name gets in on the act. Alunê draws from the Indonesian word “alunan”, referring to the continuous rhythm of ocean waves and sound, combined with “lune”, the French word for moon. And that idea is present everywhere.
The design, created by WELD, has taken cues from the colours and movement of the beach. Inside, the bar is the star of the show, with mosaic tiles and orange-tinted glass designed to glow with the same tones as the sunset outside.

It’s a clever trick, particularly when the sun begins to drop. The room starts to take on that same warm, orange hue, making it feel as though the sunset has followed you inside.
Then there is the food. Alunê opted to move beyond the predictable beach-club menu, with a more elevated approach to coastal, ocean-side dining. The lobster roll arrives with spring onion and ikura, while the catch-of-the-day sashimi keeps things simple with ponzu, chilli oil and lime.
The menu runs through five varieties, including Blue Tide, Golden Hour and Purple Power, each built around a different wellness benefit.
But really, it is the period between night and day when Alunê comes into its own. The venue’s Sunset Ritual is timed around the south-west-facing Seminyak coastline and pairs twilight cocktails with live sound as the sun sinks into the sea.
Guests can settle into the social areas near the water or opt for something more secluded in the form of a private pool cabana, each of which are fitted with its own jacuzzi and uninterrupted ocean views.
It is this flexibility that makes Alunê unique. You can make an entire afternoon of it, or arrive in time for a drink and stay until the sun has disappeared.
The timing of the opening also makes sense within W Bali’s broader evolution. Alunê has launched alongside Club Lacoste, meaning guests can now spend an afternoon playing padel before moving straight into sunset drinks and dinner without ever having to leave the resort.
For a hotel recognised for its energetic take on Bali, it feels like a natural addition.
Alunê isn’t trying to convince visitors that Bali’s sunset is something it needs to improve. It instead has built an entire experience around making sure you have somewhere very good to be when it happens. And in Bali, that’s a pretty strong selling point.
