Around 900 delegates from across the state have gathered at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre and The Star Gold Coast for Queensland Tourism Week 2026, a three-day program hosted by the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC).
The event brings industry and government together to share knowledge, set priorities and celebrate excellence across all 13 of Queensland’s tourism regions.
The program opens today with DestinationIQ, the state’s leading First Nations tourism forum, followed by the signature DestinationQ forum on Thursday. EventsQ makes its debut on Friday, bringing together the state’s events industry to hear from global and Queensland event leaders on the challenges and opportunities ahead.
The week ends with the Queensland Tourism Awards Gala Ceremony on Friday 5 November, with the Gold Coast represented by finalists in more than 10 categories, including Major Tourist Attractions and Major Festival and Events.
A growing business events destination
Experience Gold Coast head of destination and engagement Rachel Hancock said hosting the industry reinforced the region’s economic and cultural pull.
“Tourism Week provides such a vital opportunity to bring together our industry’s key players to share ideas, strengthen connections and shape the future of our hugely important visitor economy,” she said.
“Our destination welcomes 14.7 million visitors annually who contribute $8.5 billion to the local economy, so it’s fitting we host these important conversations.
“It’s also a fantastic opportunity to showcase the Gold Coast as a business events destination and highlight our evolving world-class offering.”
Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre director of sales Anna Case said the venue was proud to host DestinationQ and EventsQ.
“As one of Queensland’s leading business events venues, we see firsthand the important role tourism and business events play in fostering valuable connections, supporting local businesses and driving economic growth,” she said.
The Star Gold Coast regional general manager of strategy Ben Murphy said the venue was proud to host DestinationIQ.
“The Gold Coast is renowned for its world-class tourism offering and Tourism Week is a reminder of the incredible impact our industry has on the community,” he said.
