Executive assistants are fast becoming one of luxury travel’s most promising new talent pools, and Sydney-based Mercedes Martin is among the latest to make the move.

After more than 17 years supporting C-suite leaders across engineering, infrastructure, finance, technology and media, Mercedes launched Vantage Travel in April 2026, operating as an independent agent of 360 Private Travel.

She specialises in luxury leisure travel for executives and their families, with Spain as her signature destination. It is her home country, where she grew up and continues to travel extensively, giving her clients an insider’s perspective few advisors can offer. She has also recently qualified as a Fiji specialist and now holds Matai Silver Specialist status.

The crossover makes sense. Senior EAs spend their careers managing complex itineraries, handling last-minute changes, liaising with suppliers and keeping confidential arrangements discreet. Above all, they learn to anticipate what someone needs before they ask. These are the same qualities high-net-worth travellers look for in an advisor.

As the lines between executive support, concierge services and luxury travel continue to blur, the host agency model is giving professionals like Martin a practical path into the industry. Through 360 Private Travel, she can offer clients access to a global network, preferred partner benefits and the Virtuoso amenities that come with 360’s membership.

“For years my job was making sure the people I supported arrived where they needed to be, fully prepared and with nothing left to chance,” Martin said. “Luxury travel asks for exactly the same thing. The difference now is that I’m creating trips people will remember for the rest of their lives.”

360 Private Travel general manager Australia, Leah Greengarten, said the transition was a natural one.

“The skills that make an outstanding executive assistant translate naturally into luxury travel advising,” Greengarten said. “Anticipating needs, managing complexity and creating effortless experiences are at the heart of both professions. Mercedes brings a fresh perspective and an incredibly client-focused approach, and we’re excited to support her as she builds her travel advisory business with 360 Private Travel.”

Vantage Travel is based in Sydney. For more information, visit vantagetravel.com.au.
