Western Australia’s 2026/27 summer season has officially been launched with the arrival of Crown Princess in Fremantle yesterday morning.

Her arrival marked the first ship into Fremantle’s Cruise Terminal, giving travellers direct access to Australia’s historic maritime port city.

Crown Princess will carry 3,080 guests and 1,200 crew on a 28-day Round Australia voyage, which includes scheduled calls to Albany, Adelaide, Busselton, Broome, the Kimberley Coast, Darwin and Brisbane before returning to Sydney.

Sapphire Princess to call WA home

The visit came as Princess Cruises commenced its official countdown until sister ship, Sapphire Princess makes her debut season in Western Australia.

Princess Cruises’ vice president Asia Pacific, Matthew Rutherford, said the long-awaited homeport season is a nod to Princess’ connection to the west coast.

“We’ve been cruising from Fremantle since 2008 and we were the first cruise line to seriously commit to basing ships in Western Australia.”

“Crown Princess’ arrival today marks the beginning of another exciting summer season in the West, while we look ahead to Sapphire Princess arriving in just one year’s time for her inaugural homeport season.”

From October 2027, the 2,680-guest Sapphire Princess will call Fremantle home for the 2027- 28 summer cruise season, making 41 port calls across the state generating an estimated $142 million into the local economy.

The season will allow Western Australians to enjoy a premium Princess cruise from their home state, without flying east, while giving travellers from across Australia and overseas an easy new way to experience Western Australia’s remarkable diversity.

“A highlight of the 2027-28 season will be overnight stays in Broome, giving guests more time to experience the town’s famous Cable Beach, rich pearling heritage, local dining and culture, as well as opportunities to explore further afield in the Kimberley through locally operated shore experiences,” Rutherford said.

Economic impact

Princess Cruises 2026-27 Australian season is expected to generate an estimated $350 million in economic impact across the country.

As part of that contribution, Crown Princess loaded 150 tonnes of locally sourced Australian produce in Fremantle today, including fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy, seafood, wine and beer, supporting farmers, producers and businesses across the country.

Princess Cruises will unveil its 2028/29 Australia Summer Program on 28 October 2026 with the itineraries on sale 11 November 2026.
