Hapag-Lloyd Cruises announced plans to upgrade its two luxury ships, EUROPA and EUROPA 2, in 2027, continuing the company’s 135-year tradition of innovation in luxury travel.

EUROPA 2 will enter a shipyard in Singapore in January 2027, followed by EUROPA in Bremerhaven, Germany, in the northern autumn.

The cruise line planned upgrades for EUROPA 2 include refreshing 250 suites’ color schemes and décor, modernising the Atrium and Piano Bar, updating the designs of The Sakura and Elements specialty restaurants, and completing maintenance and technology upgrades.

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is still finalising the details of EUROPA‘s renovations and will announce them in the coming months.

“Progress, for us, means drawing on our experience to understand what makes our ships distinctive, while at the same time having the courage to change what is right to change,” Hapag-Lloyd Cruises managing director Isolde Susset said.

Both ships have consistently earned top honors from Insight Guides Cruising & Cruise Ships, formerly the Berlitz Cruise Guide, including recognition in 2025. EUROPA 2 also recently received a Kreuzfahrt Guide Award for Service & Comfort.
