VFS Global Academy, which focuses on the travel, tourism, hospitality and service sectors, has launched in Sydney in partnership with Wellington Education Group (WEG).

The launch of the education and talent development arm of VFS Global was marked with a ceremony at Sydney Town Hall, attended by representatives from the education sector, industry partners, government stakeholders and VFS Global leadership. The two organisations also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Under the partnership, WEG will support student recruitment and engagement, provide the online learning platform and training infrastructure needed to deliver programs, and help promote the courses across the Australian market.

The Sydney Academy is expected to serve students, graduates and working professionals, with programs focused on both technical and soft skills for customer-facing industries and international workplaces.

VFS Global head of education, skilling and mobility Amit Saincher said the launch was “an important step in our mission to create globally connected learning opportunities that bridge education and industry”.

“Through our partnership with Wellington Education Group, we aim to equip students and young professionals with skills that are increasingly valued in today’s dynamic travel, tourism and hospitality sectors,” he said.

WEG Sydney executive director Kellen Chen said the collaboration combined Wellington’s education and training experience with VFS Global’s international expertise.

“We see this launch not simply as the beginning of a new training initiative, but as the foundation of a long-term partnership with the potential to create meaningful opportunities for learners and industry professionals in Australia and beyond,” he said.

VFS Global Lilian Meng, associate vice president for China and Mongolia, who also oversees education, skilling and mobility for APAC, was also among the VFS Global representatives at the event.
