Viking has taken delivery of the Viking Rota, the company’s newest Viking Longship capable of carrying 190 guests across the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers.

Viking Rota has 95 staterooms and features elegant Scandinavian design, including the patented square bow that enables three full decks, the indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace and the proprietary asymmetric corridor layout that allows for true two-room suites..

The vessel will sail popular itineraries including the Rhine Getaway, Grand European Tour, Danube Waltz, Tulips & Windmills, Christmas on the Rhine and Danube Christmas Delights.

“The delivery of the Viking Rota marks another milestone for our award-winning river fleet,” Viking president and chief executive officer Leah Talactac said. “As interest in river travel continues to grow, we remain focused on creating more opportunities for curious travelers to explore the world in Viking comfort.”

Eventually, the company expects to take delivery of 18 additional river ships by 2028, 11 additional ocean ships by 2032 and two additional expedition ships by 2031. With these orders, Viking will have 114 river ships in 2028 and 28 ocean and expedition ships in 2032.

Just a few days ago, Viking took delivery of its river ship in Egypt, the Viking Sekhmet.
