Europe Holidays believes it is the first Australian travel wholesaler to offer conversational AI search across its entire product range directly on its own website, with the launch of Search With Alex.

The Gold Coast-based wholesaler said the tool is designed to cut the time consultants spend searching, comparing and evaluating holiday product. It is built into the Europe Holidays website and connected to its product and reservation systems.

Consultants describe a client’s request in everyday language and receive matching tours, cruises and packages, complete with departure dates, pricing and detailed itineraries. The example Europe Holidays gave was: “Find me a Greek islands cruise in May or June, no longer than six days and under $3,000 per person.”

Results can then be refined by dates, budget, duration, pace or travel style without starting a new search. Matching programs appear alongside the conversation, where consultants can open day-by-day itineraries, compare options and move into the Europe Holidays booking process, including Book & Hold where available.

Alternatives offered

The tool covers escorted tours, river and ocean cruises, city stays, ski packages and other holidays. Consultants can also ask Alex to evaluate alternatives for more complex or multi-part enquiries.

Magic Tours International chief executive and managing director Chip Popescu said the launch followed consultation with agent partners.

“Our travel agent partners kept telling us the same thing: finding the right product for a client can take too long,” he said.

“We wanted consultants to be able to tell us what their client actually wants, the way they would explain it to another person, and have our technology do the searching.

“It’s not only about finding information. It’s about helping consultants get from a client brief to the right travel product faster.”

Europe Holidays plans to extend its AI capabilities to flights, hotels, transfers and activities. Search With Alex is initially available through the Europe Holidays website, and the company also plans to make the technology compatible with travel agent websites, subject to platform compatibility and technical requirements.
