Catholics from around the Diocese of Wilmington gathered on Sept. 26 at the Shrine of Our Lady Queen of Peace at Holy Spirit Church in New Castle for the biannual Marian Pilgrimage. Inclement weather forced much of the activity inside the church, but participants enjoyed a full day.

The pilgrimage began with morning Mass and concluded with a Vigil Mass at 4 p.m. The day also included confession, the rosary and Eucharistic adoration. The guest speaker was Father Matthew Kauth of the Diocese of Charlotte, N.C., the rector of St. Joseph College Seminary and the author of “The Imitation of St. Joseph.” He spoke about drawing more closely to Our Lady through St. Joseph.

The theme this year was “Our Lady of Nazareth.”

Father Brian Lewis, the pastor of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Lewes, is the longtime director of the Marian Pilgrimage, which alternates locations between the Diocese of Wilmington and Washington, D.C.
