Damascus, Sept. 29 (SANA) Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani received EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas at Tishreen Palace in Damascus on Tuesday

Separately, Social Affairs and Labor Minister Hind Kabawat held talks with Kallas and her delegation on cooperation in social protection and sustainable development.

Kabawat called for EU-supported programs to contribute to a unified national social protection system designed and implemented through Syrian institutions and local communities. She outlined priorities including economic empowerment, the protection and empowerment of women, and the reintegration of returnees.

Kabawat said social protection should be treated as a commitment between the state and its citizens rather than as charity.

The talks also covered civil society’s role in delivering services and strengthening social cohesion. Kabawat said the ministry was developing rules for non-governmental organizations to improve transparency and fairness and respond more quickly to people’s needs.
