The Melbourne Caravan & Camping Leisurefest will return to Sandown Racecourse from October 1–4, bringing together 165 exhibitors for its 34th edition.

The show – the biggest celebration of caravanning, camping and outdoor adventure in Melbourne’s southeast – will feature leading caravan, motorhome, camper trailer and camping brands, alongside new product launches, show specials and family entertainment.

New vehicles and technology

Several brands will debut new products at the show. Vista RV will unveil its new 2XL, while Paradise Luxury Motor Homes will reveal a previously unseen layout.

Austrack Campers will introduce its first Toy Hauler, the Gunbarrel X19 – a 19-foot model sleeping up to six, built for family getaways and off-road adventures. It includes a diesel heater, instant hot water, reverse-cycle air conditioning, 1050W solar, 920Ah lithium batteries, an internal ensuite and kitchen, and a push-button electric tailgate.

MDC will showcase its new XT MK4 range across eight models, featuring Projecta Intelli-Grid 48V power, 48V air conditioning, high-output solar, induction cooking and built-in airfrying as standard.

Supreme Caravans will mark its 40th anniversary with a new motorhome range, based on a 4500kg GVM Iveco Daily chassis and available in 10 layouts.

Snowy River Caravans and BMPRO will debut the new Snowy River MY27 range alongside a purpose-built 48V power platform, designed and engineered in Australia to deliver faster charging and greater off-grid capability.

Family entertainment program

The four-day program includes a visit from Bluey and Bingo on October 3–4, Remote Control Car Races with stunt demonstrations, and Randy’s Junk Yard Motor Bike Action Show.

Television veterinarian Dr Katrina Warren, known for Harry’s Practice, will appear alongside dog trainer Julija Kinghorn from K9 Connect for sessions on travelling with pets, plus a Pat the Puppies activity.

Spanning more than 55,000sqm, the show will run a Passport to Freedom competition offering a Dreamhaven 15 Series Tourline Caravan valued at $70,290. A separate promotion across six Caravan Industry Victoria shows – running from Melbourne Leisurefest through to Cranbourne Caravanning & Adventure Leisurefest – will offer a daily $5,000 discount on an eligible caravan, motorhome, RV or camper trailer purchase.

Industry outlook

Caravan Industry Victoria CEO Daniel Sahlberg said business pressures facing the sector should not be read as a decline in Australians’ interest in caravanning, pointing to continued high trip numbers and regional spend.

The latest RV Production IQ data recorded 3,728 new RVs entering the market in July. Towable production fell 14 per cent year-on-year, while motorised RV production rose 36 per cent. Rolling 12-month production sits at 47,567 units.
