Wendy Wu Tours has launched In Pursuit of Wellness in China, a new nine-day journey designed to introduce Australian travellers to a different side of China. 

The tour covers seven elements of wellbeing – mindfulness, Qigong, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Reiki, hot springs, Chinese herbal meals and Miao medicine – alongside cultural experiences and sightseeing.

At the heart of the journey is Chongqing, known as the “City of Longevity” and a major hot springs destination. Travellers will take part in daily meditation, Qigong and Reiki sessions led by Reiki Master Peter Hui, alongside traditional Chinese medicine, reflexology and mineral hot springs experiences.

The itinerary also covers Chongqing’s cultural highlights before travelling to Jiuli to experience Miao culture and traditional medicine. The journey concludes with a river cruise and drone show in Chongqing.

Cultural and wellness travel 

Wendy Wu Tours head of product, Sonia Orrego, said the itinerary reflected a growing opportunity to explore China through its traditions and cultural practices.

“Wellness travel can offer a different way to experience a destination, and China has centuries of knowledge and traditions that lend themselves naturally to this type of journey,” she said.

“Travellers will have the opportunity to slow down, learn about traditional practices and experience the culture in a more hands-on way, while still enjoying some of Chongqing’s most memorable attractions.”

The tour is fully inclusive, with international flights and current taxes, four-star accommodation, domestic transportation, guided sightseeing, entrance fees and meals included. The maximum group size is 22 travellers. Departures are available across 2027 and 2028, with the tour currently priced from $6,880 per person, twin share.

Wendy Wu Tours notes that Reiki, traditional Chinese medicine, Qigong and related practices included in the tour are complementary wellness and cultural experiences for relaxation and enjoyment, rather than medical treatments.
