Glasshouse Mountains Ecolodge in Sunshine Coast has relaunched and set a new goal after undergoing a change in ownership.

Chris Pires took over the 12-room retreat, which is aiming to make itself a haven for guests to reconnect with nature, family and friends.

The retreat sits adjacent to Mt Tibrogargan in the heart of Sunshine Coast’s Glasshouse Mountains. Accommodation options include restored Victorian and Queensland state train carriages featuring kitchenettes; a spacious converted historic church, garden bungalows and forest family rooms that can sleep up to four. The lodge accommodates everybody from couples and wedding groups through to families and international visitors.

The unique nature of Glasshouse Mountains Ecolodge has already led to multi-generational family groups, special interest groups and wedding parties to book out the whole retreat for a special experience.

“For families who want their children to get off their devices and reconnect with nature, we are set up perfectly,” Pires said. “They can explore the wild in our backyard and then head down to the Irwin’s backyard at Australia Zoo, just 10 minutes away, where there’s a world of extraordinary nature in one site.”

The lodge invested in upgrades to the rooms and the gardens, which feature a coffee plantation and roughly 60 fruit trees. The retreat also has bushtucker plants that highlight its connection with Kabi Kabi Country, the traditional owners of the landscape.

“Our aim at Glasshouse Mountains Ecolodge is to make an impression on guests, but leave as little impression on our local environment,” Pires added.
