Damascus, Nov. 8 (SANA) President Ahmad al-Sharaa has issued seven decrees establishing 11 new university faculties across five Syrian provinces, as part of efforts to expand higher education opportunities across the country.

The decrees, numbered 211 through 217 of 2026, cover universities in Aleppo, Hama, Deir Ezzor, Tartous and Latakia.

Under Decrees No. 212 and 213, two faculties will be established at the University of Hama: the Faculty of Information Technology Engineering and the Faculty of Law.

Decree No. 211 establishes three faculties affiliated with the University of Aleppo in al-Bab, eastern Aleppo province.

They are the Second Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, the Second Faculty of Science, specializing in mathematics, and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

Under Decree No. 214, three faculties affiliated with Al-Furat University will be established in al-Bukamal, eastern Deir Ezzor province.

These include the Second Faculty of Arts and Humanities, offering Arabic language and literature; the Second Faculty of Education, with departments for primary school teaching and kindergarten education; and the Second Faculty of Economics.

New faculties in coastal provinces

Decrees No. 215 and 216 establish two faculties at the University of Tartous: the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Law.

Separately, Decree No. 217 establishes a Second Faculty of Economics affiliated with the University of Latakia in the city of Jableh.

The decrees provide for the incorporation of the new faculties into their respective universities’ official academic structures under the Universities Organization Law and its executive regulations.
