Sydney Airport is set to open its first independent domestic airport lounge in December, allowing passengers to access premium facilities regardless of which airline they’re flying with or their frequent flyer status.
The new 113-seat Plaza Premium Lounge will open at Terminal 2 (T2) in early December, with entry starting from $54.
The pay-per-use facility will be the first non-airline-operated lounge in Sydney Airport’s domestic precinct, offering an alternative to traditional airline lounges, which typically require eligible tickets, memberships or frequent flyer status.
Located beyond security, the lounge will feature quiet workspaces, high-speed connectivity, locally inspired food and beverage options, barista coffee and a full-service bar.
Passengers will be able to book access in advance or walk in, subject to availability.
Part of $20 million Australian expansion
The opening forms part of Plaza Premium Group’s $20 million investment program across Australia over the next 24 months, which also includes a complete rebuild of its Brisbane International lounge and a new domestic lounge at Cairns Airport, scheduled for early 2027.
The Sydney lounge will open alongside the completion of Sydney Airport’s $200 million T2 redevelopment.
It will bring Plaza Premium Group’s portfolio at Sydney Airport to six hospitality products, making the airport the company’s largest Australian location.

Sydney Airport group executive commercial Mark Zaouk said the development would give passengers greater flexibility.
“This new pay-per-use lounge gives travellers greater flexibility and convenience, whether they’re travelling for business or leisure, while reinforcing our commitment to offering premium experiences across the airport,” Zaouk said.
Plaza Premium marks 10 years in Australia
The announcement also coincides with Plaza Premium Group’s 10th anniversary in Australia.
Plaza Premium Group chief transformation officer Mei Mei Song said Australia had become one of the company’s most important international markets.
“A decade ago, we introduced our independent lounge concept to Australia with a vision to make premium airport hospitality accessible to all travellers,” Song said.
“Australia has become one of our most important growth markets globally, and this $20 million investment reaffirms our long-term commitment to the region.”
Song added that the new facility would offer domestic passengers somewhere to work, relax and recharge before their flights.
The lounge is scheduled to open in early December 2026, ahead of the busy Christmas travel perio
