APT Travel Group’s Lou Tandy has won the Consumer category at the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2027 awards. The recognition comes as the family-owned travel company prepares to celebrate its centenary.

Tandy is the third generation of her family, and the first woman, to lead APT Travel Group.

She has helped steer the company’s expansion into new markets and strengthen its luxury travel offering.

Now in its 26th year, the EY Entrepreneur of the Year program celebrates business leaders who drive innovation and growth.

From one bus to a global travel business

Tandy said the award was particularly meaningful given the company’s entrepreneurial roots.

“When my grandfather started the company almost 100 years ago with a single bus, he saw an opportunity and had the courage to pursue it,” she said.

“That pioneering mindset has been passed from generation to generation and remains at the heart of everything we do today.”

Tandy hopes her success will inspire other leaders of multigenerational family businesses.

“I hope my journey can be a positive example that entrepreneurship doesn’t stop with the founder, or even the second generation. Third-generation family businesses can be just as entrepreneurial.”

She also credited the wider APT Travel Group team for its success.

“I’m incredibly proud of the passionate and talented people across The APT Travel Group who bring that entrepreneurial spirit to life every day. This recognition is very much shared with them.”

APT Travel Group CEO David Cox praised Tandy’s leadership as the company prepares for its 100th anniversary.
