This could lift fares by as much as 20 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re going \u200bto see airfares rise next year in Europe, I think by 10, 15, \u200bmaybe 20 per cent. You\u2019re going to see the biggest increase in airfares, \u2060I would say, in history in Europe for the next 12 months,\u201d O\u2019Leary <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><a style=\"color: #008000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ekathimerini.com\/economy\/1318715\/ryanair-ceo-tells-europe-to-ready-for-biggest-airfare-hike-in-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">is reported<\/a><\/span> as saying at a news conference in Brussells.<\/p>\n<div class=\"nx-banner-wrapper\">\n<div id=\"nx_ekathimerini_com_Category_SB_1_mb_new\" class=\"nxAds gAdCentered\">\n<p>The Iran War has also impacted unhedged airlines.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Whilst European airlines, including Ryanair, had strong hedge positions in 2026, most airlines had little hedging in place from April 2027.<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Leary announced that he was cutting 20 routes and more than a million seats from Belgium after Belgium moved to increase its aviation tax to \u20ac7 in January.<\/p>\n<p>The CEO also said he was optimistic that US certification of the Boeing 737 MAX 10 will be completed this month.
