The Qantas Group has opened its new Emergency Procedures Training Centre (EPTC) in Sydney for pilots and cabin crew members across Qantas and Jetstar.<\/strong><\/p>\n The EPTC is part of a $100 million investment in pilot and cabin crew training facilities.<\/p>\n The centre, which sits at Qantas\u2019 Mascot campus, will train more than 10,000 Qantas, Jetstar and QantasLink pilots and cabin crew every year. The 6,300 sqm facility integrates widebody and narrowbody training facilities \u2013 replica aircraft cabins equipped with seats and galleys that allow crew to train for different onboard scenarios as well as door trainers for eight different aircraft types, a multi-storey escape slide and rafts, a virtual reality training area and classrooms across two floors. The centre is one of seven Qantas Group training facilities currently operating across the country.<\/p>\n \u201cOur new centre in Sydney brings together new training technology and capability for our pilots and cabin crew across Qantas, Jetstar and QantasLink,\u201d Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson said. \u201cThese investments allow our crews to train on aircraft types before they arrive in the country, including Qantas\u2019 Project Sunrise A350-1000ULR.\u201d<\/p>\n The expansion of the Group\u2019s training capability comes as Qantas and Jetstar receive more than 200 new aircraft, with 17 arriving in FY26 and up to 31 coming in the next 12 months. This includes Qantas\u2019 first A350-1000ULR aircraft that will connect Australia to London non-stop for the first time ever from October next year.<\/p>\n Seven new flight simulators commenced training pilots in the past 12 months, including the country\u2019s first Airbus A350 simulator in Sydney, A320 simulators to train Qantas and Jetstar pilots and a new Q400 simulator to support QantasLink\u2019s turboprop fleet transition. Upgrades to the Group\u2019s Melbourne facility were also completed during the year.<\/p>\n
