Qantas is expanding its Western Australian operations, with Jetstar planning to more than double its Perth cabin crew workforce from 40 to 90 local roles.<\/strong><\/p>\n The airline opened its new Perth cabin crew base this month, alongside a new emergency procedures training centre and upgrades to QantasLink aircraft based in the city.<\/p>\n The training centre will support more than 1,200 Qantas, QantasLink and Jetstar employees each year, allowing crew to complete practical training locally rather than travelling interstate.<\/p>\n The facility includes aircraft door trainers, escape slides, life rafts and virtual reality training. An Embraer E190 trainer will be installed early next year to support the aircraft\u2019s entry into QantasLink service.<\/p>\n The group has also completed the first cabin upgrade on its fleet of 19 Perth-based QantasLink A320s, with the aircraft receiving Wi-Fi, new seats and cabin improvements. The first upgraded aircraft is due to enter service this week.<\/p>\n Jetstar will launch its new Perth-Christchurch route on October 27, offering more than 30,000 seats across the season.
