Qatar Airways has unveiled its latest premium inflight dining offerings and onboard innovations at an exclusive media event at Woodcut, Crown Sydney, on Thursday (8 October).<\/strong><\/p>\n The event brought together media and industry guests for a first look at new premium menu offerings developed in partnership with acclaimed Australian chef Ross Lusted, alongside a new cocktail and mocktail range crafted by Italian mixologist Lorenzo Antinori.<\/p>\n Guests were also treated to a demonstration of Qatar Airways\u2019 Starlink inflight connectivity, including a live video call with cabin crew aboard an aircraft.<\/p>\n The airline used the occasion to introduce its incoming chief customer officer, Calum Laming, who officially takes up the role on 1 November.<\/p>\n Speaking at the event, Laming highlighted the importance of the Australian market to Qatar Airways and reflected on his 34-year career in aviation, which began working in an airline call centre while he was still studying.<\/p>\n \u201cI started on the front line, and it\u2019s kind of shaped everything I\u2019ve done because it taught me that every customer has a story, every single person\u2019s different, and every interaction matters,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Laming, who revealed he had visited Sydney 172 times, said he was excited to join the airline and build on its reputation for exceptional customer experiences.<\/p>\n \u201cAustralia is a massively important market for us, so it\u2019s great to be here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a lot to come for Qatar Airways, that I\u2019m sure of. We remain completely focused on delivering exceptional customer experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n Technology was another major focus of the showcase, with Qatar Airways highlighting its investment in Starlink satellite internet connectivity.<\/p>\n One presenter described inflight connectivity as no longer simply a luxury, but an essential part of the modern passenger experience.<\/p>\n \u201cStarlink on board isn\u2019t necessarily a nice to have.
