Hobart Airport is expecting 131,000 passengers in the upcoming school holidays, with tomorrow, Friday 2 October expected to be the peak day as close to 9,000 passengers pass through the terminal.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cMore than 50 per cent of traffic over the school holiday period is expected to be on the Hobart-Melbourne route, with some passengers flying onward to other destinations,\u201d Hobart Airport CEO Norris Carter said. \u201cThere is also strong demand for Brisbane, which provides access to destinations across Queensland, including the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, and connections to more than 30 international destinations.\u201d<\/p>\n The Qantas Hobart-Brisbane service has increased capacity from 21 September to accommodate inbound school holiday traffic, adding 2,976 seats over the two-week period.<\/p>\n Travellers who have not visited the airport recently would notice some changes with the terminal upgrade<\/a> continuing.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you haven\u2019t travelled through Hobart Airport recently, you\u2019ll notice some significant changes as part of our $200 million terminal expansion,\u201d Carter said. \u201cWhile construction continues, some gates have moved, so passengers should allow a little extra time to familiarise themselves with the terminal.\u201d<\/p>\n The airport is encouraging travellers to check their flight details with their airline before leaving home, book parking online to secure a spot, and allow a little extra time to get through security screening and find their gate.<\/p>\n \u201cA little planning before you leave home can help make your journey smoother, particularly during busy holiday periods,\u201d Carter added.<\/p>\n Looking beyond the school holiday period, Qantas will increase its Hobart-Brisbane service to daily flights from 25 October until April next year, adding more than 40,000 additional seats.<\/p>\n The airport was also looking forward to welcoming back its other regular seasonal services from late October, including Jetstar\u2019s Hobart-Newcastle service and Air New Zealand\u2019s Hobart-Auckland service, both of which will have increased capacity in response to strong demand.<\/p>\n Hobart Airport\u2019s terminal expansion is part of a broader investment program of more than $550 million.<\/p>\n ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW: Hobart Airport<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\nBeyond school holidays<\/strong><\/h2>\n
