Newcastle Airport celebrated the first anniversary of its international terminal after opening in September last year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The opening of the Hunter\u2019s new international terminal on 25 September 2025 marked a major step in Newcastle Airport\u2019s evolution as a global gateway, followed by a record year with more than 1.3 million passengers travelling through the airport in financial year 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cOpening the international terminal gave the Hunter more opportunities to connect to more of Australia and more of the world, direct from their doorstep,\u201d Newcastle Airport CEO Linc Horton said. \u201cWe have successfully seen our first international passengers through the terminal, launched direct services to Bali and onward connectivity to Singapore, announced new domestic routes to Perth and Hobart and experienced the busiest financial year ever at Newcastle Airport.\u201d<\/p>\n

Just roughly a couple of days ago, the airport announced that it will lead<\/a><\/span> a delegation from the Hunter region to Singapore from 27 September to 2 October.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne year later, having opened the terminal that was designed to link the Hunter with the world, we are travelling to Singapore with regional leaders to explore the relationships, investment, trade and connectivity that can transform that capacity into even greater opportunity,\u201d Horton added. \u201cSingapore is a leading aviation, business and investment hub for Asia and an even closer connection with markets such as Singapore can help ease the time, costs and complexities faced by our businesses when accessing the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

The birthday celebrations for the international terminal come as the Spring School Holidays kick off, with around 65,000 passengers expected to travel through Newcastle Airport over the holiday period, a 10 per cent increase from the September-October school holiday period last year.<\/p>\n

The international terminal\u2019s first birthday celebrations will extend to passengers from 1:00pm-4:00pm today, with live music, a new photo booth and a selection of regional food and drink.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
