Mitsui Ocean Cruises has christened and launched its second five-star ship, Mitsui Ocean Sakura<\/em>, with a traditional naming ceremony in Yokohama before it embarked on its first voyage on Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The debut of Mitsui Ocean Sakura<\/em>, formerly Seabourn Sojourn<\/em>, expands the Mitsui brand to a two-ship fleet alongside Mitsui Ocean Fuji<\/em>, which debuted in December 2024.<\/p>\n

To celebrate the milestone, Cruise Traveller is offering special fly-free packages for voyages around Japan in 2027, releasing five new packages for April and September, 2027, offering voyages aboard either Mitsui Ocean Sakura<\/em> or Mitsui Ocean Fuji<\/em>, complete with free return flights to Tokyo from Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney. The packages are from seven to 12 nights and start at AU$8,799 per person, twin-share, in a Veranda Suite.<\/p>\n

The official naming ceremony of Mitsui Ocean Sakura honoured the people behind the ship, with Mitsui Ocean Cruises crew members and employees collectively serving as namers.<\/p>\n

Ship highlights<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The 458-guest Mitsui Ocean Sakura<\/em> is a spacious, elegant and intimate, all-suite luxury ship with ocean views from every suite. Her compact size allows access to a diverse range of ports throughout Japan, including smaller destinations and ports.<\/p>\n

Mitsui Ocean Sakura<\/em> offers guests an authentic, unique and immersive Japanese experience. Alongside Japanese guests and crew, guests enjoy truly authentic journeys to smaller, more remote and less-visited destinations brimming with ancient temples, exquisite gardens and romantic scenery.<\/p>\n

Among Sakura<\/em>\u2019s new culinary experiences is Sushi Bar Shiosai, an intimate specialty restaurant on Deck 5 featuring counter and table seating.<\/p>\n

The ship\u2019s Grand Pool on Deck 8 offers another distinctly Japanese touch: an open-air footbath where guests can relax while remaining comfortably dressed, providing a restorative retreat between sightseeing and onboard activities.<\/p>\n

Guests also enjoy an inclusive onboard experience featuring all-suite accommodation, dining, more than 200 alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, entertainment, Wi-Fi, select onboard activities and half-day shore excursions in most ports.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
