Qantas has climbed two places to 12th in the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards, continuing its recovery in the global rankings as Singapore Airlines overtook Qatar Airways to claim the top spot.<\/strong><\/p>\n The Australian flag carrier improved on its 14th-place finish last year and was named Best Airline in Australia\/Pacific and Best Airline Staff in Australia\/Pacific.<\/p>\n The result marks a continued climb for Qantas, which fell to 24th in 2024 following a series of public controversies.<\/p>\n It was a different story for Virgin Australia, which slipped three places to 37th, while Jetstar remained in 88th position.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Singapore Airlines reclaimed the title of World\u2019s Best Airline for the sixth time, ending Qatar Airways\u2019 two-year run at the top.<\/p>\n Qatar Airways, which has won the award a record nine times, finished second, ahead of Cathay Pacific in third.<\/p>\n The result comes amid significant disruption to Middle Eastern aviation this year, although the impact of those events on the rankings is unclear.<\/p>\n Despite losing the top spot, Qatar Airways secured several other accolades, including the inaugural World\u2019s Best Onboard Wi-Fi award.<\/p>\n Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Alaska Airlines and JetBlue rounded out the top five in the new category.<\/p>\n The Skytrax awards are based on customer satisfaction surveys, with more than 24.8 million travellers rating over 300 airlines between September 2025 and August 2026.<\/p>\n Asian and Middle Eastern carriers once again dominated the top 20, with Qantas the only Australian airline to make the list:<\/p>\n 1.
