Aqua-Aston Hospitality has highlighted its properties in Hawaii after recognising the growing significance of the multi-gen travel market.
The property group recommended its properties after Virtuoso’s July 2026 survey of nearly 800 travel advisors across the world indicated that multigenerational and family travel led the types of trips that clients are asking for the most, with 69 per cent of those surveyed saying so.
Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania, concurs that multi-generational travel forms a strong share of the travel mix from Australia and New Zealand to Hawaii.
The multi-gen travel market prioritises educational and cultural experiences, plus nature and national parks, according to not-for-profit organisation Road Scholar. Hawai‘i is proving to be an ideal destination for multi-generational holidays with its accessibility for Australian and New Zealand travellers, its stunning beaches, lush mountainscapes, cultural experiences and soft adventure experiences drawing repeat travellers.

“Multi‑gen groups need both privacy and shared space, preferring apartments, family suites, communal lounges, outdoor areas, multi‑age pools and barbeque spaces,” Aqua-Aston Hospitality vice president of commercial strategy, marketing Theresa van Greunen said. “Our condominiums average 111 to 185 square metres, compared with the 23 to 33 square metres typical of Hawaii hotel rooms, giving families room to spread out and have their own space – it also means parents can have more of a break during holiday downtime.”
“Recent research highlighted four of the five key visitor segments as being family / multi-generational,” Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania account director Darragh Walshe said. “Hawaii is particularly well placed to meet the needs of these travellers, offering a diverse mix of cultural experiences, nature, soft adventure and family-friendly activities that appeal across generations.”
