Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines have unveiled Aurora and Leihōkū, elevating the premium travel experience from curb to cabin.

The airlines also announced plans to introduce Premium Reserve, which adds a new premium economy option across the 787 and A330 fleets and select 737-10 MAX aircraft, with more space, comfort and amenities on longer flights.

For the Aurora Suites, Alaska will install 34 lie-flat Aurora Suites on all widebody 787 Dreamliners. For the first time, it will also bring them to select transcontinental first class flights on the 737 in 2028. The updated 787-9 will offer about 46 per cent premium seating, up from 38 per cent today.

For the Leihōkū Suites, Hawaiian will refit its 24 A330 widebodies, which serve destinations in Asia, Oceania and select North American routes, with new interiors from the first row to the last from 2028. The fleet will include 22 enhanced Leihōkū Suites for international business class and domestic First Class passengers. Premium seating will rise to about 40 per cent of the cabin, up from 30 per cent.

“We believe premium is more than a seat,” Alaska Air Group CEO Ben Minicucci said. “It’s how guests feel from the moment they book their trip to the moment they arrive at the airport to when they’re in the air with us.”

Premium Reserve seats will go on sale next summer and start rolling out in 2028 across both fleets. The cabin completes a four-cabin layout of Aurora or Leihōkū Suites, Premium Reserve, Premium Class and Main Cabin.

Both Aurora and Leihōkū offer 19-inch 4K entertainment screen, Bluetooth connectivity, wireless and USB-C charging and AC power, and Complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi for Atmos Rewards members.
