Damascus, Sept. 29 (SANA)  The first scientific forum on cardiovascular diseases and surgery opened Tuesday at the Damascus Hospital for Cardiac Diseases and Surgery, coinciding with World Heart Day.

The forum was attended by Health Minister Musab al-Ali and medical specialists from Syria, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.

Al-Ali said cardiovascular diseases remain among the world’s major health challenges and that addressing them requires an integrated approach based on prevention, early detection, accurate diagnosis and advanced treatment, alongside scientific research and continuous training for medical staff.

He said the forum provides an opportunity to exchange knowledge and expertise, discuss the latest developments in cardiovascular diseases and surgery, and explore ways to improve medical practice and the quality of healthcare services provided to patients.

Al-Ali said holding the forum on World Heart Day underscores that protecting human health is a shared responsibility, with prevention, treatment, scientific research and health awareness forming interconnected elements in addressing cardiovascular diseases.
