Aroya Cruises, the first Arabian cruise line, has successfully completed its Mediterranean Games 2026 charter in Taranto, Italy.

The AROYA vessel hosted over 4,000 competing athletes from 26 nations, with an onboard experience tailored to their needs and those of their delegations.

Across the 20-night charter, AROYA welcomed more than 15,100 athletes, delegation members and visitors in total. Roughly 1,200 crew delivered a comprehensive hospitality program encompassing accommodation, tailored dining, training and recovery facilities and entertainment, combining authentic Arabian hospitality with international standards of service.

The International Committee of the Mediterranean Games held a special event onboard on 1 September, acknowledging Aroya Cruises’ role in the Games and the dedication of its team. The event took place ahead of the Games’ closing ceremony on 3 September.

Alongside athletes and their delegations, AROYA welcomed heads of state, royalty and senior government representatives. Ministers and Olympic committee leaders also visited the vessel, while dedicated media days welcomed press representatives from participating countries.

The dining program was developed around athletes’ nutritional requirements and delivered by 273 culinary professionals representing 15 nationalities. Menus combined international and Mediterranean cuisines, with balanced meals and high-energy options supporting training and recovery. Particular attention was given to food allergies, dietary restrictions and individual nutritional needs, including vegetarian and vegan preferences.

The team also prepared an average of 550 packed lunches daily to accommodate athletes’ competition schedules.

Athlete wellbeing extended beyond nutrition to dedicated facilities for training, treatment and recovery. Twenty treatment rooms complemented a fully equipped gym and dedicated studios available for athletes to use with their own physiotherapists. Thermal facilities included Finnish and infrared saunas, steam, snow and salt rooms, hydro-jacuzzis and relaxation lounges.

Cruise Saudi, a Public Investment Fund portfolio company, launched Aroya Cruises in June 2023.
